In one of the opening sessions of the impact Aviation Forum, Andreas W. Schäfer examined the long-term forces driving aviation demand and highlighted a reality that is often overlooked:

Aviation growth is not simply an industry ambition. It is closely linked to economic development, rising incomes and increasing demand for mobility.

The discussion also challenged another assumption: historically, aviation growth has been supported by falling costs. The transition to Net Zero may require us to adapt to the opposite dynamic.
